The Recording Connection offers something no “name” 4-year university or audio engineering and music production trade school can. From day one, you’ll be placed in a professional recording studio and receive one-on-one mentoring from award-winning producers and engineers. All sound design students work alongside each other extensively, as designers, assistants, and system and production audio engineers. Production calendars transpire on a quarterly basis, with ample opportunities for both conceptual design and system implementation. The MFA sound design program at BU guides each student in the development, implementation, and execution of their designs. With more than 200 locations throughout 48 states, you won’t have to travel thousands of miles for this immersive experience.
Within this small design program (BU accepts one to two sound design grad students per year), each student has the opportunity to contact their faculty mentor on a regular basis. All School of Theatre faculty members are working theatre artists who maintain active professional careers. We took that old stale classroom concept, rebuilt and upgraded it by putting your classroom in a professional recording studio. While Recording Connection has partnerships with studios in the Boston metro area, we were also one of the first to offer remote learning to our students. With the uncertainty of Covid-19, we strive to keep our mentors and students safe.
